Why Choose Air-Hart?

The Best Come Here

Air Hart Aviation is one of the most prestigious and comprehensive Flight and and Float Plane Training centres in North America. Just ask Kenn Borek Air Ltd, an air service contractor who has made a worldwide name for itself operating under difficult conditions and in remote areas for scientific research projects worldwide. When it came to training 18 of their finest pilots on floatplanes, Kenn Borek Air sent them to us.

The Best Float Plane Training Rates

If you have done your homework, you already know that Air-Hart offers competitive and affordable priced floatplane/seaplane training packages compared to our major competitors with the same aircraft training capabilities. Remember, it is important to compare apples to apples. You may have heard the expression “It’s like flying a wet dog”. We don’t want you to get ‘soaked’ with prices not matched by the training capability. Our 172 Hawk XP and Cessna 180, with constant speed propellers, provide for a more complex, and realistic experience that gives you the skills you need to get that job. See PRICES.

Solo Flight Time. It’s Great Experience and Saves you Money.

Unlike most floatplane training centres, Air-Hart offers SOLO Flight Time. For our 50 hour bush course, you would fly 25 hours dual and 25 hours solo. Most pilots understand the importance of getting solo hours, not to be confused with “supervised solo”. In addition to the great experience, this ultimately saves you money, when you consider that solo hours are considerably cheaper than bringing your instructor along for the ride. We are often told by our students that was one of the reasons they came to Air-Hart in the first place. We are so confident in how well we train, we let you fly solo.

Great Flying Weather and More Days in Accordance with VFR

In addition, you’ll find that Kelowna, in relation to Canadian norms, enjoys a dry climate and mild temperatures. As a pilot you will also benefit from having more days in accordance with the VFR (visual flight rules), helping you becoming licensed in a shorter time, often in just a few short weeks. Our Fleet

We have chosen the Cessna 172 Hawk XP and Cessna 180 for float training. Both aircraft have constant speed propellers and are powered by a Continental IO-360 KB and O-470-B engines respectively. Training on these types of aircraft will prepare the student for immediate transition to the Cessna 180 and Cessna 185 floatplanes utilized by many commercial operators. In fact, we encourage our students to fly as many as 50 hours on floats. This experience will in fact help them to land that all-important first job with a float operator. When choosing a flight training centre, it important to get the best bang for your buck. Don’t settle for an aircraft that doesn’t award you the training experience your future employer demands.

The Diverse Flying Opportunities of the Okanagan

Ideally located in beautiful Kelowna B.C., you will experience some of the best flying opportunities in the breathtaking beauty of the Okanagan with its surrounding mountains, glaciers and alpine lakes. You may not be coming here for a holiday, but you’ll still get a little downtime and Kelowna is just the place to enjoy it.

The diverse Okanagan geography in itself is the greatest tool in teaching our students to be competent instrument pilots, mountain pilots, navigators, and excellent floatplane pilots. Just because we have some of the best weather in Canada, does not mean it’s all fairweather flying. With over 100 small lakes to practice on in the surrounding area, it is an excellent all-around training facility. Combine that with your experience flying solo, future employers will be impressed with the diverse skills you have learned at Air-Hart Aviation.
